MEETING WITH ABRAHAM -- BEYOND COMFORT LEVELS
JULY 30, 2001
WOODS CROSS GROUP

I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. I so much enjoy the group spirit here this evening.
You each appear to have rolled up your sleeves and are ready to work. These
past Mission years have only been preparation for the present time, a warm
up so to speak, the teetering between faith, doubt, reality and mysticism.
It is apparent that the Teaching Mission is becoming more stabilized and
founded in the reality of the Fatherhood of God and the Brotherhood of Man,
yes.

With any new marriage there are needs to be met, rolls to fulfill and
positions to define. Now that we have established commitment we will be
called to certain duties. These task assignments are helping each one of you
attain experience as well serve your fellows. You cannot say, "I am with
righteousness because I serve" or glorify the self because you put yourself
out, because you are also receiving valuable experience in return.

In a good marriage you give in order to care for the whole. You don't really
give just to receive, and for those who do understand the marriage concept,
you will rarely ever receive any credit for your good deeds. Again, that is
not why we serve. I can say that most individuals going into marriage have
expectations that never really come to pass, and the lessons are hard and
bringing a new consciousness. You will find that you must move beyond your
usual pattern of behavior, yes, even at times compromise yourself. You learn
to move from that place of self-satisfaction and comfort to making effort
towards trying new things, doing different things.

This Teaching Mission appears to the outside world as new thing, something
out of the ordinary and strange. We are thankful that those Mission
beginners did step out of their comfort zone to embrace the new without
worry of ridicule. You have had these years to digest lessons and always
fall into the safe arms of your Heavenly Parents should trouble arise. Now
we are asked to go forth from our self-satisfaction and comfort to handling
situations with spiritual maturity.

"I am fine, but I am not," is a saying we will become acquainted with. "I am
valued and loved, but I do not hold all the answers. I am willing to step
forth and drink the cup, fight the good fight of faith, view my fellows as
brothers and sisters, and do what I have to for the good of the whole," yes.
We could say you have made your Mission bed--now lie in it. Go forth with
courage and deal with your mortal circumstances with spiritual power. Do not
recoil in fear as if you know not the Master nor have had the spiritual
training.

The spiritual path is not a path of ease and situations will arise where you
must step from your comfort zone to handle situations. The Master seemed to
have a perfectly focused mind and a shielded heart. He could endure all
things. The Master could deal with difficult situations because He allowed
Father to work. Many were common to say the Master was beside Himself.
Instead of jumping to emotional rampage or assuming the worst, the Master
would consult with Father in prayer or stillness to receive clarification.

Many things that happen are really not as bad as you would think. They are
subject to your human definition. So while you go forth with your new
courage to move from your comfort zone to do new things forget not to
consult the Divine Overseers for clarification and direction. It was quite
rare for the Master to give way to emotional outbursts and that was due to
His time spent with Father. He was strengthened for everyday ordinary daily
mortal happenings. He moved with spiritual power from On High because He was
dedicated to allowing Father to work.

The Master worked not for self-recognition, no, but for the welfare of the
whole. He found spiritual strength to do even the most difficult of tasks
because of His Father connection. The criticism He received was of no affect
because He had tamed the mortal ego. The business of who He was and how He
was growing and learning was only the concern of Father's. Said He, "I am
made more when I have given all that I am to my Father in Heaven. I fear not
the ridicule of society. I dare to move beyond what I feel comfortable with
to be of service to Him that has created everything."

Friends, you will be called to certain tasks that you feel you are not
equipped or moves you from your level of comfort. Allow Father to be at your
side with His guidance and to bestow on you spiritual confidence and power.
Do not take my words in through the ego's ears, no, but see them through the
eyes of the Spirit. This is maintaining balance. This is serving the whole.
Conflicts that arise within this marriage will need to be dealt with to gain
closer bonds of trust. You cannot cover over your difficulties with social
niceties and expect healing, no.

Michael's Spirit of Truth runs through the hearts of every man and woman.
Nothing will be hidden for long. We must move from our comfort levels to
face the truth in whatever form it takes. We must move beyond the ego's cry
for attention and remittance and be about the business of truth and the
desire to initiate healing. I hope I am clear to you. A few questions.

WILLEENA: Abraham, I would like to ask about the stillness track I am on--if
it is accurate or if you would suggest adjustments?
ABRAHAM: I perceive you to be in understanding, but I would suggest you to
have balance with this. Do not make this a primary focus in your daily
living. Do you see, the more you make effort towards attaining stillness the
easier it slips away, but yes, I see you have good understanding and have a
new sense of the practice, yes. Is this helping? (Yes. Is my communication
with Danielle on track as well?) I can find out from her. Yes, ask again at
a future time. (Thank you.) You're welcome. Another question?

SIMON: Abraham, I am really excited about tonight's lesson--perhaps too
excited about it. I really have a desire to do some kind of Urantia
missionary work all the time. The Mormon Church seems to be a big deal to me
because we are in Utah--some direction along those lines. I suppose you know
what I would really like to be doing. I would love somebody to read the
Urantia Book out loud to the folks at the Conference or something like that.
What do you think the best way to begin or give me some direction.

ABRAHAM: You are speaking of missionary work, yes? (Yes. Teaching Mission
missionary work.) Understood. You already do a great amount of missionary
work in your daily dealings with people. It is understood in the religion
you spoke of that missionaries are glorified and held up as heroes or the
self-sacrificer's that will bring God's message to the ignorant. We are so
far from that. Missionary work for the Teaching Mission would entail first
to attend to ones own family. That is first and foremost in the mortal
adventure--no doubt about it. Your children, spouses, parents, grandparents
are your first duty. Not to force spiritual light upon them, no, but to give
to them as the Master gave to His family. The beautiful example of someone
who knows God is giving love, acceptance and a sharing of personal
experience--not one who speaks as though they have a connection to Father
that others do not. Your friends and acquaintances always benefit by your
sharing and the way you take an interest in their lives is a ministry unto
itself. Jesus ministered as He passed by. He gave so that He may glorify
Father. He gave out of His love for His fellows. He did not serve only to
return home as the daring hero. Simon, my son, you already serve in so many
ways. You do know you are in training for a future assignment and that
should be quite enough for now. Yes, well done. Is this helping? (Yes. Thank
you.) Another question?

SARAUNA: [Tape inaudible] Question about Kimberly doing the right thing for
the good of her family dealing with her husbands alcohol problem.

ABRAHAM: Yes. I understand. It is so difficult to reason with those who
alter the mind and body with chemicals, and she is correct that sometimes
relationships must be completely torn down to be rebuilt. She does
understand the concept of enabling and sometimes to flee from alcoholism
seems more painful than just enduring. The withdrawals can be such a source
of fear because that brings with it change, and I understand this problem to
have gone on for quite some time, yes. I would say to you, my daughter, you
know well what is the right thing to do and have known for quite some time,
yes. I understand you are afraid, but know that Father has many times
created opportunities for you to seek a better way. You are not the weak
woman you perceive yourself to be. You are indeed with strength and well you
should be for enduring this disease. Have faith, my daughter, your courage
in taking action will bring about healing. Remember you cannot cure the
alcoholic, but you can certainly bring healing to your family by daring to
take action, yes. That is all. One more question.

DIANNA: Abraham, I have a question about the lesson this evening. My focus
has been to work on myself and clear myself of those spirit poisons that
block me from being of service. What I see in tonight's lesson is that if my
focus is purely on Father and focused in service, that I stand beside myself
and I don't need to be concerned with that healing, that the healing flows
through that. I am wondering if I am on the right track with that thought.
Can you provide me with some clarification?

ABRAHAM: You are saying in self-forgetfulness and focusing on service you
receive personal healing. Is that correct? (I am trying to distinguish the
difference in focus from where I have been doing my process in growth right
now, which has been if I open myself up to Father I can learn how to forget
and stand beside myself, but what I see from tonight's lesson is perhaps my
focus needs to be not so much on what those spirit poisons are within me,
but on service and the rest will take care of themselves.) Understood. Many
go through life believing they are so wounded, so injured that they have not
the capabilities to move on towards self-forgetfulness into service. Nobody
really perceives themselves in a state of becoming and they long for
perfection in the self. This disappointment is overwhelming and they lose
confidence. Yes, recognize those spirit poisons as a part of your total
makeup, but do not become so discouraged as to think that is all you are,
no. Understand that these spiritual poisons are natural and going to be with
you and everyone for a long time to come. In knowing the spiritual poisons
you learned to recognize and appreciate the spiritual fruits. Life is a
balance of both. Yes, a focus on helping others is helping yourself. You do
gain valuable experience in being open to serve. Many times you are not the
one who serves but are served. Feel not the mortal life has made you weak
and without confidence to go forward, learn, grow and serve. Know that your
place in the Kingdom is secured and our divine Caretakers have the utmost
faith in you. You are learning a new self honesty and this is wonderful, my
daughter.

Each of you are on a path of discovering self truth and I have full faith
that you each have the courage to face it and become stronger and inspired
to become more, yes. I am slipping. Know that with each week that passes I
find myself more in love with you each. Until next week, shalom.
