Anne Coulter and the Culture of Hate

We have watched the dregs of public personalities come to the fore in
recent years. What is about today's culture that allows people of low
moral character to be promoted as something special? Not talent, not
charm, not charisma, nor even beauty, but sadly mean spirited truculent
attitudes are somehow "IN"!
Talk show hosts that spew hatred are among the most listened to in
America, many are no better then Joseph McCarthy, stirring up our
debased ugly side. Yet millions applaud their words, listen and watch
their low-level appeal to hate. Entire programs set up to diminish one
segment of our society over another, are established and no one blinks.
Being secular is called Godless, being open is branded Liberal, a term
that means "freedom lover" in Latin, but now has been demonized by hate
filled pundits until it is an expletive to many.
American war heroes from the wrong party are accused of faking their
medals or lying to get them, by men that refused to serve or those they
hire to lie for them. Hate becomes a propaganda vehicle with the ability
to sustain a lie through out a political campaign, until its over, then
we learn it was not quite true. Careers of good men besmirched and
soiled by men that cannot hold a candle in humanness to those they ruin,
all this is true in America today.
Preachers reaching millions that plead for the death of a head of state,
or call God's wrath down on a town for not being Christian enough, in
his view. This kind of man makes millions from Public support, and gets
a tax free pass to manipulate and structure government to his liking.
Television personalties that divide and cause animosity in the viewers
they reach, writers that spin false and misleading hatred are called
great literary figures.
Moslem Clerics spread evil and mistrust in the Islamic Mosque all over
the world, and teach hatred of Christians. Christians are now learning
to despise Islam, and we say no big deal there has always been hate and
haters. True enough, but when have there been so many malice filled hate
spewing popular people?
Would Hannity or Rush have been popular in 1970?
Would we listen to the hatred and support its premises in the past, or
have things changed due to their propaganda, our loss of humane morals;
or both?
We have entered the Hell-ite zone where people of low morals tap into
the frustrations of the world and play them like a fiddle, until hate
fills the air. Angry greedy petty and narrow is their scope yet they are
given large forums to spew their animosity. Where once they were ignored
and disdained, now the low brow bigots have a voice and gain power over
those that care. So many of these people have arisen in the last decade
or so that they seem mainstream now in this more misanthropic society.
 
Case in point, Anne Coulter, here is a women that has made millions by
degrading a segment of the global population, open minded liberals are
her target. In her limited and bias vision she claims every thing that
is wrong with America and the world is caused by the "LIBERALS."
Over simplistic meandering of vague concepts put together to appear as
if America is being ruined by the left or liberals. Small unrelated
facts contrived to convince her readers that our freedom, our openness,
our liberal ways and liberal people are the real enemy.
Now it is semi-taboo to admit you care what happens to the poor or the
disadvantaged, it is considered bad to show concern for the Earth and
its environment, it is uncool to speak out against a government that is
obviously out of touch. Promotion of social catch nets that keep our
country stable and fair are considered communist or Liberal.
People like Coulter have poisoned the minds of millions today to hate
the very thing that brought America to the front of civilization.
This false Machismo, angry, everyone for themselves attitude that
Coulter embraces, was once the domain of the more negative males that we
called over aggressive Alpha males or school yard bullies.
Feminine attributes such as motherly care, resolute compassion and
tender understanding are totally missing from her persona. Not that
these facets are necessary to be a woman, but they are needed to be a
decent Human being.
Anne Coulter thinks liberation for women is acting like the worst, most
arrogant of the males. Anne is confused, hateful, arrogant, egotistical
and aggressive, all the things we all try to avoid in our personalities,
Anne has embraced and used to promote her career.
How and why did the worst of our human nature slowly become the sought
after ideal? As opposed to the positive giving side of our human nature.
Is it our busy I- do-not-have-time-for-you lifestyles that allow mean
spirited angry hate filled people to become icons of the media?
Our plentiful and busy two jobs lifestyle promotes the easy way out, and
eventually an inherent laziness and apathy. Cultural sloth may have led
us to that point where it is easier to hate then love so we choose the
latter.
 Just when I thought perhaps we reached a new low and might be able to
peer from under the rock and start the ascent back to sanity, I see it
return. It rears its ugly head in more radiant versions of vile
attitudes that appeal to the base of our being not the higher selves but
the lowest common denominator.
A few of the Widows of the men killed on 9\11 have taken it upon
themselves to see that this tragedy means something and their mates
lives are not in vain. They promoted the 9\11 commission when Bush and
his people did not want probes into this strange failure of our
security. They laid out a list of very good suggestions for the shoring
up of our national security, from borders to infrastructure, all fine
ideas.
Anne Coulter this very week dropped a bomb on these diligent and caring
people by calling them greedy and said they enjoyed their husbands
deaths. Another in a long line of callous and classless statements to
prove her machismo, a hurt any one to make a buck Anne Coulter. Did Anne
finally stick her foot so far into her nasty mouth she bit her foot?
Hey America are we ready to go to the next level, where women that
dedicate their lives to helping America become more secure, are called
witches for speaking out? This has got to have dire consquences and we
see them daily on our tv screens as the new arrogance is displayed in
death and destruction.
I look for the corner, I peer out from this lower depths we have sunk
to, and let us all pray we return to some civilized understanding that
arrogance and heartlessness are counter productive and will end in
tragedy, nothing more.
