This face, the size of a postage stamp, required 37 drafts to reveal all I could perceive when inspiration struck me to paint this picture of a mountain man on the front porch of the Post Office, across the field from the Nurses Cabin, in a gold mining town in a remote mountain valley in Southwest Colorado.
