Steff and her Grandmother
On the Jemez River This is a chimerical ensemble. All of it is
imaginative and not in keeping with reality at all, except for Steff
who, that day in the Jemez, lifted us up from the river rocks to an
awareness of the energy, power, and mystique of Mother Spirit – or, as
Steff called her, “Grandmother”. There are those who feel the artist
has depicted our spirit ancestor as too earthy, too voluptuous, but
they are obviously overlooking the divine aspects of nurture and
abundance. (36” x 48”) |
