DEATH OR REDEMPTION
As winter snows hit his mountain village, Jason faces mysterious
death threats, an enigmatic woman reporter, and a young girl
with a bizarre resemblance to a lost lover. En route to join
a pivotal weekend is a violent protagonist, Santos, who may
be an avenging extraterrestrial soldier, leaving a wake of death
& destruction in his path.
Both are afflicted & inspired by dark energies on the
planet as the weekend’s events unfold into a bullet-riddled
showdown with angry drug dealers & a confrontation with a
clandestine alien society.
Jason must find the wisdom to unravel the danger-laden mysteries
surrounding him, and ultimately the courage & heroism to face

Announcer: Good evening, Planet Earth, and Namaste. This is
Roland Watson with Celestial Fusions, broadcasting the good news
of interplanetary awareness, and interviewing personalities who
are making it happen.
Tonight, in the studio, is Jim Cleveland, creator and manager of
Light and Life dot com, billed as “An Exploration of the
Spiritual Universe.” Good evening, Jim.
Jim: Good
evening to you, and thanks for the invitation.
Watson: First
of all, just what is the, as you say, spiritual universe in your
view? Just how big is it, and tell me what you’ve found, if
you’ve actually been there. (laughs)
Jim: The
spiritual universe is as large or as small as you make it. We
have a planet that’s filled with mortals of free will. We’re
having an adventure in time and space. We have indwelling
spiritual selves that will live on, if we’re worthy.
Watson: And if
they subscribe to the right dogma?
Jim: Love one
another is the dogma. Too much of the scriptural dogma we see
actually gets between a person having a close, personal
relationship with God, and with God’s ministering angels and
spiritual personalities. I believe one’s dogma should be based
on what God tells them when they pour out their wishes and
desires to him in personal conversation. God’s spirit lives
within us, in order to pilot us through life and give us comfort
and assurance. You can call it the soul, the spirit, the higher
self, or if you’re a Urantia Book reader, the “thought
adjuster.”
Watson: Well,
so that gets past the churches and the mosques and the
synagogues and gets you in the door to see and interact with God
personally … so to speak? Well, does God really want to talk to
us? Really?
Jim: I believe
that God’s spirit comes to indwell all men and women when they
are children and begin to make moral decisions. We can respond
to this innate call within us to pursue the highest truth, the
greatest beauty, the most joyous goodness. Everyone has this;
some choose to bludgeon it to death to assert their own
authority. But if we attune to the spirit of God within
regularly, in a time of both Stillness and Awakening, we can
become more peaceful souls, gentler souls, and we can receive
the spiritual sustenance and clarity of vision that will guide
us truly.
Watson: Ask
directly and ye shall receive then, and to heck with church
dogma.
Jim: The
religions of the world need to continue their evolution. All of
us do; we’re all evolving in an evolving world. Religions
haven’t been without corruption. They too often worship their
writings as holy and embrace stagnant, even primitive thought.
But many of our other institutions are corrupt and self-serving
too. It is a condition of our world, our evolution. We need to
all unite and work for truth, beauty and goodness in all things,
however we perceive them, and this means honesty, integrity and
respect for all people, whatever the state and condition of
their civilizations.
Watson: Is
this what I hear about as New Spirituality then, as opposed to
the New Age, which I think is still hard to define? What’s new
about spirituality?
Jim: I’m sure
the terms can be defined in various ways. But I think that New
Spirituality is basically a new way to look at spirituality and
accept it in our lives. New Spirituality as represented by Neale
Walsch’s Humanity’s Team, and by the Urantia Papers and A Course
in Miracles, and so many new movements of thought is realizing
the fact that all of humanity is designed as One and needs to
function as one. We are all brothers and sisters in the world,
created by the same God, and should support one another.
That actually isn’t
new thought at all; it’s ancient, really; it’s universal to
humankind. But I don’t think this great truth has really emerged
as strongly yet, as it will in the years ahead. People are sick
of dogma wars. They’re tired of Christians, Jews and Muslims
killing one another and sending us the bill. They’re tired of an
evil elite getting rich while draining the world’s resources and
spreading hatred.
By understanding this
sordid reality, people, people go inside themselves and talk to
the spark of God that indwells us all, people can go to the
living water source for the advice and counsel they need to not
only nurture and build their own souls in this lifetime but to
also step forth and use their talents in these critical times
for world survival.
I think the New
Spirituality then is a personal relationship with God, developed
and nurtured by each of us, a Personal Religion. As more people
make this connection, we will gather a renewed force of
spiritual energy that will help us take back our lives and
re-build our institutions.
Watson: Whew!
You touch on a lot. Okay, let’s save the world with higher
spiritual energies. How would they manifest themselves?
Jim: Well, I
think these spiritual energies are rising on the planet as more
people are discovering the power of Personal Religion, working
with their inner spiritual guidance, yearning for the
realization of higher values and being rewarded with greater
clarity and inspiration to go out in selfless service, in all
walks of life, and help realize them. Prayer works.
We should look
especially to support political candidates and religious
speakers who are attuned to the higher values that you yourself
have realized and come to understand through a daily Stillness
time with God. And we don’t have to save the world all by
ourselves, just shine our lights where we are. Everyone has that
indwelling spark of God, after all, and a voice that is always
urging a higher way.
Watson: Sounds
like a missionary call. Develop a relationship with God and then
make it happen. Do God’s will. And do it the way you see it.
Jim: There are
as many paths to God as there are people to walk them. And the
greatest spiritual wisdom is timeless, beyond time and space,
and can’t be fettered by it. It comes from this spark inside
each child of God in the Universe. If one wants to find true
religion, one goes to find this center within and follow the
eternal advice: Love One Another.
Watson: Well,
you sound like a lot of preachers I’ve known.
Jim: Yeah, you
caught me. That’s all dogma too, isn’t it?
Watson: So
then New Spirituality is like a re-discovery, of a timeless
truth that supercedes all of man’s effort to formalize or
organize religion. We don’t need to go to church to find God.
Jim: God is
everywhere in the creation, always with us, always ready to
listen to concerns and requests. Man has furiously tried to
understand God, himself and his place in the universe, but he
seems to have always dealt with questions from a human context,
with infantile mortal thinking, pulling down Gods to their level
of understanding, and with self-preservation and self-service
always being the root of their endeavors.
It’s hard to
understand God when you don’t understand yourself, all the more
reason to release yourself openly to God’s guidance regularly,
constantly. You will actually be guided to self-preservation and
self-service, the growth of your soul, and you will be motivated
to good will.
Watson: Well,
then, is this the philosophy for Light and Life com? These are
some of the messages you’re trying to get across?
Jim: Well,
yes, but with an open mind. The website is created for
fair-minded journalistic exploration of all the ways people are
seeking spiritual values and talking about them. The world is
literally quickening with spiritual activity and progressive
social movements that profess spiritual values. It’s a rich,
rich world to explore, and we just advise people to believe and
embrace what rings true to them based on all that they can
explore, and leave the rest. So it’s like journalism too. Here’s
something we discovered; check it out.
Watson: So do
you believe all the myriad of spiritual stuff you can find on
the internet, about our being on the brink of a major spiritual
passage of some kind?
Jim: To tell
you the truth, there are a lot of claims and so-called
channeling and …verbosity … going on in the world that I
wouldn’t want to support or deny at this point. I know the
reality that we can contact and work with celestial teachers. I
also know there are ET’s. But there is a lot of wild imagination
in the world too, probably from people who don’t have the
God-centeredness they need to make sense out of these rapidly
changing times and these expanding energies that are coming in.
They may be channeling their minds and emotions anyway; they may
turn their psychic research into dream castles. There’s a lot of
stuff out there in the ether.
Watson: So
what? Buyer beware then? Is that it?
Jim: Well … I
think so. Anywhere on the planet. You don’t have to buy any of
it if you have a personal relationship with God. And that’s
free.
Watson: And
you get it by just talking with God, in a quiet place?
Jim: That’s
about it. Drop your agendas. Still your mind. Relax your body.
Any meditation technique that works for you is fine. Deep
breathing opens you up. Just be open.
It’s best, I think,
to tune up with some reflective worship, bringing to mind all
the gifts of God that we appreciate; say a prayer for others,
specifically those who are suffering, reflect on the ideals of
forgiveness, on ways to provide loving service to others. These
thoughts and actions put you in a great mood to be close to God.
And God always responds to his children. Your petitions will be
considered and answered. A time of such stillness and
communication can be an energizing time each day and focus you
on the eternal and real values.
Watson: Well,
we’ve often explored spiritual phenomena on this show, mostly
metaphysical subjects, generating new celestial energies, using
crystals, aromatherapy, other kinds of new healing, also the
UFO’s, the Disclosure Project. This show tonight seems somewhat
different in that we have been drawn almost fully into what is
like a basic spirituality, God’s will, prayer, worship, all
that. Why is that?
Jim: Maybe you
should consider more guests in the spiritual realm. The
metaphysical and new age folks only touch on spirituality. Much
is also currently being done by the celestials to persuade the
scripture-based religions to be more progressive, more
ecumenical, more open to new truths and realities that naturally
come with human evolution.
Among the
organizations I support is the North American Interfaith
Council, and there are others that celebrate Oneness of spirit
to build bridges between the various faiths. It is clear to me
that the New Age and the New Spirituality and the organized
faiths and the secular metaphysicists all need to seek
commonalities of spirit that include each other. And yes, we are
all One here on this tiny planet.
Watson: And
you just shrunk it some more, Jim. Thanks for being on the show.
